Octagon's featherweight champion, Muhammadzhon Kurbanov, is moving to lightweight.

Because of that, he's chosen to vacate the belt and let the next two contenders vie for the featherweight crown at Octagon's next event, Octagon 55. The promotion announced today that Octagon 55 will take place on February 16th at the Baluan Sholaq Arena in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The main event features a fight for the vacant featherweight championship between Uzbekistan's Sardor Khudoyberdiev (7-2) and Murtazali Magomedov (6-0) of Kyrgyzstan. The promotion announced the event and the fight on Instagram.

Khudoyberdiev has won two fights in a row, over Tychtykbek Kanybek uulu at Muradov PL and Bakhtovar Naimov at Octagon 52 in November. The 31 year old trains at Baza Fight in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan.

Standing in his way will be undefeated Kyrgyz fighter Murtazali Magomedov, who is considered one of the top fighters out of the country. In six professional fights, Magomedov has yet to go the distance and is coming off an arm triangle choke submission over Ulan Tamgabaev at Octagon 52.
