New main event for Alash Pride FC 93: Wanderley Junior contends for interim title

Alash Pride FC 93

Just three days before showtime, Alash Pride FC 93 has new main event.

Due to health concerns, Ilmiyamin Dzhavatov has dropped out of the interim flyweight title fight with Ruslan Sariev, the promotion announced. Stepping in as a replacement will be Brazilian Wanderley Junior (note- the promotional poster names Alash Pride FC 94 as the event for the fight, but it will indeed take place on Sunday, January 28th).

The promotion also stated that Junior was already slated to compete at Sunday's event.

Ruslan Sariev (12-5) had originally fought Ilmiyamin Dzhavatov at Alash Pride FC in July of 2023 in a highly controversial contest. Dzhavatov had Sariev locked in a chokehold, but failed to release the choke when the referee tried to break them apart. As a result, Dzhavatov was disqualified. That rematch will have to wait with Dzhavatov pulling out of the rematch.

Wanderley Junior (15-7), of Brazil, fights in Kazakhstan for the first time, although he's coming off a fight to another Kazakh. Junior competed against Sabit Zhusupov at AMC Fight Night last November, dropping the fight by TKO in round two.

Alash Pride FC 93 takes place on January 28th in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, and will air on Alash Pride FC's YouTube channel.
