In a war between two of China's top prospects, Naertai Kezibayi took home the win over Zewang, and an absurd amount of cash courtesy of JCK.
The first round was very close, with both Naertai Kezibayi pressing hard with his striking right away, hitting his Tibetan opponent with left hooks until getting taken down by a double-leg from Zewang. The round was mostly spent with Zewang on top landing short shots, and when Kezibayi stood, rewarded with a huge elbow.
The second round saw Zewang and Naertai exchange strikes at range, with Zewang landing the greater volume at range with jabs and body kicks. Both fighters had success with the elbows. With a minute and half left, Naertai dropped Zewang with a right hook and nearly finished the fight with punches on the ground, but Zewang just barely survived until the end of the round.
With Zewang potentially worn down in the third, Naertai took his man to the ground and looked to finish the fight on the ground. Kezibayi sent a big head kick when the two stood, and Zewang seemed to be fighting with far less pop than before. Naertai finished the round taking Zewang down and clearly ahead on the scorecards.
Naertai Kezibayi opened round four with side kicks to the leg of Zewang, buckling his knee en route to another takedown. Zewang was unphased, and despite standing up, the fight went right back to the ground.
Zewang likely needed a finish in round five, and attacked the body of Naertai with a flying knee and body kick. However, Naertai got the fight right back to the mat to sit for the majority of the round. With just over a minute left, Zewang was able to reverse the position to sit into Naertai's close guard, but the late resurgence was far from enough.
The judges all scored the fight 49-46 for Naertai Kezibayi, who won one million Chinese RMB for his victory in the JCK featherweight tournament.
